Thierry Henry has claimed that Mohamed Salah is a more effective player than Philippe Coutinho.
Many doubted if Salah would succeed in the Premier League after joining us from Roma, considering that the Egyptian had a previous unsuccessful spell with Chelsea. The Egyptian has, however, managed to prove his doubters wrong as he has managed to score 31 goals so far in all competitions.
The only man who has scored more goals than Salah this season in the Premier League is Harry Kane of Tottenham who has found the back of the net 23 times.
We were forced to sell Coutinho to Barcelona in January. The Brazilian was determined to achieve his dream of playing for the Spanish giants and in the end, we had no choice but to grant him his wish. Many fans were worried after we sold Coutinho, as he was a key player in our side for the past few years. Furthermore, the fact that we had failed to find a replacement for the player was another huge reason for worry.
Following Coutinho’s departure, we have managed to keep our top form, which has surprised many people and Henry went on to say that Salah has become a more effective player than Coutinho.
“I like his movement, he always wants to go in behind,” Henry said on Sky Sports.
“There’s no step-overs, there’s no trying to nutmeg, there’s no skills for no reason. He’s going at you, if you’re ready or not that’s your problem.
“I said at the beginning, I predicted that he can be as efficient as Coutinho. He has been more efficient than Coutinho in his first season. So we will see how far he’s going to go with that.
“Listen, if you’re a Liverpool fan and you have (Roberto) Firmino, Salah, (Sadio) Mane, you can only be happy.”
Henry is spot on. Salah’s influence is much more than what Coutinho had at Liverpool. The Egyptian is tearing defences apart and is so direct and effective when compared to Coutinho. Aren’t we lucky to have Salah in our team?
