Liverpool are looking at the possibility of signing Piotr Zielinski from Napoli after missing out on the player last summer. Napoli have slapped a whopping £57.3m price-tag on the attacking midfielder after understanding Liverpool’s interest in the player, as per reports.

Jurgen Klopp wanted Zielinski when he first took charge at Liverpool in the summer of 2015 but despite holding talks with the then-Udinese star, nothing materialised as the Merseyside-outfit took a back step over the £13million asking price.

But Liverpool’s hesitation back in 2015 allowed Napoli to swoop in and since then, the Polish attacker has developed into a fantastic player. He has become one of the most exciting talents of Serie A, drawing comparisons with Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne.

The 23-year-old has already scored 8 goals that has helped Napoli surge to the top of the league. His impressive performances have alerted Liverpool once again and Klopp is planning to raid Napoli in the summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Despite having top potential, Zielinski has yet to become a regular starter under Maurizio Sarri. He has made just 8 starts this season and a further 16 appearances off the bench but has been an impact player for the Naples-based club.

After giving some mouthwatering performances this season, the attacking midfielder has earned rave reviews from across the continent with Sarri hailing the Pole.

“He is an absolute talent, he also has great physical skills and if he grows in the level of personality, he can play in any area of the court, the new De Bruyne,” said Sarri.

If Sarri’s comments weren’t enough, earlier this week, Poland legend Zbigniew Boniek praised Zielinski and claimed that he is better than Kevin De Bruyne.

“He will be the next De Bruyne? I think Zielinski already has more quality than De Bruyne,” Boniek told Corriere dello Sport.

“They are different kind of players, of course, but they have the same ability to leave their mark on the team. I think that he will become a top player. He was 16, I went to see a Poland youth international match and thought: ‘This is an extraordinary player’.”

Do you think Piotr Zielinski is worth the price tag that Napoli have quoted?.
