‘I am a fan, It’s much better now’ Henderson comments on Lallana’s latest haircut ahead of the Newcastle game

Liverpool prepare to face Newcastle United in the latest round of the Premier League and with second-placed Manchester United in our sights, it should come as no surprise that the players are really looking forward to the final few games of the season.

We have been on a bit of a roll and with us facing United in a couple of weeks, the pressure will not only be on on our fab trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane but on the rest of the team as well, including our captain too.

Jordan Henderson was speaking to the Liverpool website ahead of the clash against our former manager Rafael Benitez but spoke about his earlier roots in Sunderland.

“I’ve been away from Sunderland for a long time now but it’s always in your blood. My family are big Sunderland fans. It’s always nice to play against Newcastle – especially when we win.”

Henderson also spoke about his shooting ability from outside the box and added that he prefers to play people in on goal despite him having a good ability to finish.

The captain also added that facing Manchester United is always an ‘amazing occasion’ and that he loved winning at Old Trafford.

Hendo also spoke about captaining the side at Anfield and how much of a responsibility it is for the English midfielder.

“It’s an amazing feeling to captain Liverpool. When I was asked to do it, obviously it was a huge honour. It’s a massive responsibility but one I felt I could take on. I felt I was the right person to do it. To lead the team out, especially at Anfield, feels amazing.

“It’s one I hope to do for a few more years yet. We’ve got a great set of lads, we’ve got a lot of leaders within the team and I feel the responsibility is not solely on me. It’s on a lot of the senior players as well – we all chip in together.”

Winning Trophies Is Next On The List

While we have been one of the teams to watch out for in Europe, the next step is to win trophies and that is exactly what Hendo wants to do with the club next.

Henderson also spoke about his test and experience of playing for England and how well Gareth Southgate has settled into the England job before claiming that Adam Lallana’s new haircut is better.

“I am [a fan] – I prefer it shorter like he has it now. I was probably an influence on him getting it cut. It’s much better now.”

The clash against Newcastle is a really good chance for us to boost our chances of finishing higher than 3rd position and a win would be the perfect way for Hendo and the team to prepare for United.
