The Liverpool squad braved the snowy conditions on Thursday to continue their preparations for the weekend’s Premier League meeting with Newcastle United.

The Reds turned up the heat last Saturday when they defeated West Ham 4-1 at Anfield. They will be on a high against Newcastle tomorrow, looking to keep up the pressure on Manchester United in the battle for second place in the Premier League.

Before the game against West Ham, Jurgen Klopp and his entire squad had travelled to Marbella in Spain for a warm-weather training camp for four days. It was a mini-break from the hectic schedule which re-energised the entire squad.

Following the 4-1 thrashing of West Ham, the Liverpool players were spotted at Melwood training base on Thursday ahead of the Newcastle game.

Nathaniel Clyne was spotted in action at Melwood on Thursday. The defender played the full 90 minutes in Liverpool U23’s 4-0 win over Stoke U23 in the PL Cup last weekend as he bids to attain full fitness after recovering from a back injury.

Liverpool’s top-scorer Mohamed Salah was in fantastic mood in training and why shouldn’t he be? The Egyptian has taken the Premier League by storm since signing for the Reds from Roma in the summer and added to his growing tally of goals with a fine strike against West Ham last weekend.

However, there was no sign of Gini Wijnaldum at Liverpool training ground. The Dutch midfielder missed the West Ham game due to illness and wasn’t training with his teammates.

The likes of Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson were not spotted participating in the training either.

Adam Lallana was pictured practising with the ball as he bids to return back to perfect shape. The England international has endured an injury-marred campaign with the Reds. He played the final 10 minutes against the Hammers and is pushing for a start against the Toons.

It was all smiles for the rest of the Liverpool squad despite the chilly conditions at Melwood.

Young guns Rafael Camacho and Curtis Jones were also involved in Jurgen Klopp’s training session on Thursday. It was great to see the academy kids train with the first-team squad in the subzero conditions.

Let’s get all three points on Saturday and keep the pressure on Manchester United, who face Crystal Palace on Monday.
