For the fifth time this season, Mohamed Salah has been named Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Player of the month, this time for February, our club has confirmed.
February was yet another standout month for the Egyptian in what is easily one of the best debut seasons any player has enjoyed in the Premier League era. Salah was again in rip-roaring form last month, scoring 5 goals in 4 games in all competitions as he took his total tally for the season to an outstanding 32 at the end of February.
The winger was a clear-cut winner in the poll voted by the fans on our website, ahead of second-placed Roberto Firmino and left-back Andy Robertson in third.
“I am very happy to win it again,” Salah told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I’m happy with the results we had in February, they were good results for us, but we’re already looking forward to our next game.
“I’m pleased with my form, but everyone did good throughout the month. We won three games – and the most important thing, as I’ve said, is always the results for the team.”
When asked which was his favourite and the best goal he has ever scored, the Egyptian added:
“All of the goals were goal important for me, but if I had to choose one in February it would be the second goal against Tottenham.”
“I think this season, I could choose this goal as my best and the first goal against Southampton also. Everton was also good, too. It’s hard to say if it’s the best one.”
Liverpool next travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter on Saturday.
And Salah, who was named on the bench against Porto earlier this week, will look to continue his blistering goal-scoring form and help the Reds grab three crucial points.
With Salah winning Liverpool’s player of the month for February, here is how our fanbase reacted to it.

“We want to be as successful as possible” – Jurgen Klopp praises players after record-breaking start to the season
Jurgen Klopp has hailed the Liverpool players for their record-breaking start to the season. The Liverpool Echo reports that our tally of 42 points from 16 games is the best during this stage of a top-flight season.
We achieved that landmark with a 4-0 demolition job of Bournemouth on Saturday and moved to the top of the Premier League table after Chelsea’s win over Manchester City.
Klopp further gave all the credit for the feat to the players (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“I think I said a few years ago that we have to write our own history.
“It’s important but it’s not the most important thing in the world that we beat any team’s record from 30 years ago or whatever.
“The thing is that we want to be as successful as possible. Nobody knows what that means. This league is so difficult to play.”
The manager even had time to joke about the points tally we have achieved so far this season.
“To have 42 points, I usually had that in April, and now it’s December. That’s massive. It’s exceptional, and the boys deserve all the credit for that because they fight for each yard.”
Liverpool looked great in the win over the Cherries but it felt like we had more in the tank. There are a couple of tough matches coming up for the Reds as we face Napoli in the Champions League and Manchester United at the weekend.
We have to beat the Italians to make it to the next round of the European competition, and the pressure will be on to put Carlo Ancelotti’s men to the sword.
Klopp will already be planning the downfall of the Serie A side, and if we play to our potential, there could be a fantastic match at Anfield in midweek.
“It’s time for a change right now” – Former USA international urges Liverpool target to leave Bundesliga giants
Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic has been told that it is time for a change, with the January window around the corner.
The Liverpool Echo adds that the Reds have kept tabs on the 20-year-old and Chelsea are also interested in signing the winger.
Former United States international Alexi Lalas believes it is time for the winger to leave Dortmund for bigger things in the future.
“There are teams all over the world that would love to have Christian Pulisic right now. I think he’s done a great job in going over to Germany, he’s done a great job at Borussia Dortmund.
“But I think it’s time for a change right now for Christian Pulisic, and a change to an even higher profile team.”
The report adds that the American is out of contract in 2020 and should he refuse to extend his stay at Dortmund, the club could sell him in the coming window.
Liverpool could do with someone like Pulisic in their side, and he would certainly do well under his former boss Klopp.
The American is one of the bright players in the Bundesliga but hasn’t been great in the current campaign for Borussia Dortmund.
The youngster has been upstaged by Jadon Sancho, who is playing better than him at the moment.
“I rate him among the very best at the top” – Liverpool star heaps praise on teammate after Bournemouth win
Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum believes James Milner is one of the best players in the world and praised the versatility of the 32-year-old.
The Englishman played his 500th Premier League game for the Reds in our 4-0 win over Bournemouth and even captained the side as Jordan Henderson was on the bench.
“Which player in the world can you play in every position in a team and he will do really well in all of those positions? There is no-one, apart from Milner.
“He has played in so many different roles — and he is always brilliant. That’s why I rate him among the very best at the top, I really do.”
The Dutchman added that Milner always puts his 100% on the pitch, which is good for the team.
“What Milner is capable of at this level, I have never seen other players do that. Milner will always get great marks, no matter on what position our manager puts him.”
The midfielder has been used all around the park by Jurgen Klopp. The former Leeds United star even played a majority of a season as our first-choice left-back ahead of Alberto Moreno during the 2016/17 season.
The 32-year-old has only gotten better with each season under his belt and Wijnaldum highlighted the professionalism of the midfielder.
“Some players can get frustrated when they have to switch positions. But with Milner, you will never see a mood swing. His attitude just stays the same.”
The Reds play Napoli in a huge Champions League clash, and we can be sure that Milner will give his 100% on the pitch.
