Timo Werner would be a perfect fit for Liverpool.

Liverpool will be finally able to land Naby Keita from RB Leipzig at the end of the season but Jurgen Klopp is also interested in signing Keita’s Leipzig teammate Timo Werner, according to the Independent.

The Reds agreed on a fee with Leipzig for Keita last summer and as per the Independent, we wanted him for the start of the 2017/18 season. However, things didn’t go in Jurgen Klopp’s favour and this summer, the Guinean will at last officially become a Liverpool player.

In January, Philippe Coutinho left Liverpool for Barcelona in a £142million deal. Klopp had the chance to spend the money then but he opted not to fork out the money and only signed defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton to shore up his defence.

But this summer, the Express report that Klopp could be a given huge transfer budget to strengthen his squad in order to challenge for the Premier League title and other trophies next season.

The performances of Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet between the sticks have been shaky this season and I assume Klopp could be on the hunt for a new goalkeeper in summer.

But according to the Independent, the German manager is very much interested in further bolstering his attack and is eyeing Timo Werner from Leipzig.

The 22-year-old has become one of the most sought-after young strikers in Europe, having burst on to the scene with Leipzig last season, scoring 21 goals and providing 7 assists that guided the club to a second-place finish in the Bundesliga.

The Independent claim that Manchester United are also keen on the German hotshot but Klopp has shown greater desire to make a deal happen.

However, Liverpool isn’t Werner’s preferred choice as he recently admitted in an interview that he would prefer to play for Manchester United and two or three other clubs if he ever moved to the Premier League.

“Playing in the Premier League is a dream for me. I would like to play for two or three clubs, and Manchester United are one of those clubs,” Werner was quoted by the Express.

“But probably not in the next few years – later, when my English is a little bit better! I’m very comfortable at RB Leipzig, though.

“Manchester United and Liverpool were the teams I watched quite a lot in England.

“They were the two that I’m a little bit a fan of, because they have so much history. When Alex Ferguson was the coach, United won everything and were outstanding.”

It remains to be seen what happens in the summer but if there is an opportunity to sign Werner, I feel Liverpool should go for him.
