Liverpool have begun their preparations for the weekend’s clash with Watford. The Reds are looking for an immediate response to last weekend’s 2-1 loss at Manchester United when they take on the Hornets at Anfield.

The defeat against United was a disappointment in every manner as we dropped to 4th in the league standings after Tottenham Hotspur defeated Bournemouth 4-1 on Sunday.

However, the game on Saturday gives the Reds a chance to bounce back and firm their grip on a top-four finish.

This season’s top-scorer Mohamed Salah was seen in good spirits, doing some sort of stretching exercise. The Egyptian largely cut an isolated figure in the game against United, failing to score in the 2-1 defeat.

However, he will be desperate to get back on the score sheet and guide the Reds to a victory over Watford. The likes of Andrew Robertson, Danny Ings and Danny Ward were spotted enjoying the training session.

Liverpool’s defence came under heavy criticism after the defeat to United. While Dejan Lovren was typically made the scapegoat, many bashed the performance of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The right-back endured a nightmare against Marcus Rashford and was partly guilty for both the goals scored by the United forward.

However, the 19-year-old will be upbeat to make a mark against Watford.

Skipper Jordan Henderson, who didn’t play a part in the previous game, could start on Saturday. He was seen in a good mood as he steps up his return from injury.

Meanwhile, Adam Lallana was not spotted at Melwood on Tuesday. The midfielder has endured an injury-hit campaign that has seen him make only 10 appearances this term.

The 29-year-old came as a substitute against United but failed to weave his magic. Lallana missed the first four months of the season due to a calf injury and worked on his recovery in Dubai prior to his return against Chelsea in November’s 1-1 draw.
