Liverpool handed transfer boost as £70m-rated target’s club prepare for the player’s exit

Liverpool target Alisson Becker could be sold by AS Roma in the summer, with a report on French website L’Equipe (h/t Liverpool ECHO) claiming that they have started scouting his replacement. Alisson has attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs for his performances in Serie A this season.

According to the report from Liverpool ECHO

, the Reds have seemingly cooled their interest in the Brazilian international after the Italian side set a mammoth £70m price-tag on the keeper. Yet, Roma are ready to sell Alisson in the summer and have prepared for his departure by monitoring the progress of Toulouse goalkeeper Alban Lafont.

The 19-year-old Lafont is one of the rising stars of French football and is regarded as one of the best young shot-stoppers in Europe.

As per the aforementioned source, the Toulouse keeper could be heading to Serie A if Roma agrees to a deal elsewhere for Alisson. But if the Italian club is so keen on selling Alisson, they will have to lower down their asking price to attract clubs into making a move for the Brazilian.

However, Liverpool’s motive in the summer is dependent on the development and progress made by the current No.1 goalkeeper, Loris Karius.

The German has impressed lately for the Merseyside-outfit and if he continues to perform at the highest order until May, then there could be a chance that Jurgen Klopp may take a dip in the market and sign someone to challenge Karius rather than replace him.

However, Roma are apparently planning for Alisson’s exit but the goalkeeper’s next destination remains very much unclear.

Even if Liverpool think of making a move for the 25-year-old in the summer, they should not think twice on spending a substantial amount. Alisson may not be the first name on the lips while discussing the best keepers in the world but he is certainly not far behind.
