Liverpool face major competition for one of their summer targets as Real Madrid look to swoop in for Alisson of AS Roma. The Brazilian has been one of the best players in the Serie A and according to reports from Spain and Italy, Madrid would be ready to splash €60m for the 25-year-old.
Reports from Mundo Deportivo and Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Birmingham Mail), the La Liga giants are ready to give the keeper a five-year contract which is worth €5m-a-year.
While interest from Liverpool is big for any player, Real Madrid is a different proposition and it should come as no surprise that Alisson is pleased with the interest from the Spanish side.
Alisson was quoted by The Birmingham Mail while speaking to the Italian press:
“Those links massage the ego, it cannot be denied. People get satisfaction when you are being recognised by any club.
“I am very happy to have this recognition, that says to me that I am doing my work well and they are noticing.”
However, Alisson was quick to add that he was committed to Roma, for the moment.
“I’m focused on things at Roma, but it is especially nice when we are talking about Real Madrid.”
A Goalkeeper Is Not A Priority For Liverpool
To be fair, we don’t really need someone to take over between the sticks as Loris Karius seems to be doing a pretty good job at the moment. The German did struggle a bit at the start of the season but has turned it around after Jurgen Klopp made him our number one.
Alisson would not come on the cheap either and after we already signed Mohamed Salah from Roma on a relatively low sum at the start of the season, the Serie A side would want to make a killing by trying to cash in on their keeper.
Another aspect we have to keep an eye out for is battling Real for any player in the transfer market. The La Liga side can blow any side out of the water with their crazy budget and in all probability, we should just forget about signing another goalkeeper unless Karius has an epic meltdown by the end of the season.
