“That’s what every footballer dreams of” Out-of-contract Liverpool star insists he wants to win titles

Emre Can

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has told German publication Süddeutsche Zeitung (h/t Liverpool ECHO) that he is capable of playing for “a very big club” next season. The German’s contract at the club is set to run out in the summer and has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus

.

The Liverpool ECHO reports that Can won’t make a final decision until the summer but insists that any club wanting to sign him at the end of the season must be capable of challenging for the biggest trophies.

“Sure, the Bundesliga would interest me, why not? Although I must say honestly that the level has waned in recent years,” Can told Süddeutsche Zeitung. (h/t Liverpool ECHO)

“The Premier League has the power to spend more money on players than the Bundesliga. This is very, very important for players.

“I have the self-confidence to say that my qualities are sufficient to play in a very big club next season.”

In the interview, Can explained that being an important part of the team and being at a club that has the prospect of winning the title will be crucial in him making a decision at the end of the season.

“That’s what every footballer dreams of because that’s the reward for the work,” Can added.

“I’m doing great in England. The Spanish league is also attractive. The same applies to Germany, where tactics are concerned, and the Italian club football, which has recently caught up.

“Incidentally, the same applies to France, this league has now established itself as one of the best in Europe. Therefore, I do not want to exclude anything because I do not know what I will do from the summer.”

Although nothing has been finalised yet, I feel that there is an acceptance at Anfield that Can will leave in the summer.

Can’s comments come as a big surprise to me, maybe for the entire Liverpool fanbase too. We are one of the most glamorous clubs in England and certainly one of the best in Europe. The recent results don’t suggest that but the club’s history is enough for a player to understand how big Liverpool FC is.

I am not happy with Emre’s interview!
