According to Daily Mirror, Liverpool are lining up Napoli midfielder Jorginho as Emre Can’s replacement. Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested in the Italy international but the Reds are confident that they are in pole position to wrap up the deal for £50million-rated midfielder, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Brazilian-born Jorginho holds a dual passport and is currently with the Italy squad for the friendlies against Argentina and England. The Daily Mirror claims that Liverpool would be the favourites for his signature if the transfer of Jorginho becomes a tussle between the aforementioned three Premier League heavyweights.
The Daily Mirror reports that the success of Brazilian internationals Lucas Leiva, Philippe Coutinho and currently Roberto Firmino at Anfield, and the expansive and attacking brand of football the Reds play under manager Jurgen Klopp could entice Jorginho to prefer Liverpool over Arsenal, who won’t be able to offer Champions League football next season, unless they win the Europa League this campaign.
German midfielder Can’s contract expires in June and despite the Reds trying so much to extend his contract, the player hasn’t put pen to paper on a new deal. The Daily Mirror claims that Can’s former club Bayern Munich are now the favourites to sign him in the summer transfer window.
The Daily Mirror suggests that Liverpool are also keeping track on the progress of Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri and Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi to replace Emre Can.
