Liverpool confident of beating Manchester United and Arsenal to Jorginho deal
According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are lining up Napoli’s Italy international Jorginho as a replacement for Emre Can. The report has also claimed that Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Arsenal are interested in Jorginho but the Reds are confident of striking a deal for the £50million-rated Napoli midfielder.
Jorginho was part of the Italy squad that suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Argentina during the friendly fixture on Friday at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester. The midfielder is expected to play against England at Wembley on Tuesday.
And Liverpool would be counted as favourites if the transfer battle for the Brazilian-born midfielder comes down to a straight fight between the aforementioned three Premier League clubs, reports the Daily Mirror.
Brazilian stars have been quite successful at Anfield. In recent times, the likes of Lucas Leiva, Philippe Coutinho and current star Roberto Firmino have been firm fan favourites and with Klopp’s high-octane style of play, Jorginho could be tempted to make the move.
Emre Can’s future also remains up in the air, with a move elsewhere looking likely. The Daily Mirror now claims Bayern Munich are the favourites to seal Can’s signature at the end of the season.
The central midfield is the area the Reds must improve ahead of next season, despite the imminent arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig. Jorginho would be a fantastic signing in every case as the Napoli midfielder would prove to be a superb replacement if Can decides to leave Liverpool in summer.
