According to French outlet Canal Plus (h/t the Daily Mail), Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has revealed that he wants to play for Liverpool.
The former France Under-21 international has impressed at Watford over the past two seasons and has been a constant figure in the Hornets lineup this season. He has scored 7 goals so far this campaign, thereby establishing himself as one of the key players at Vicarage Road.
Doucoure’s performances have sparked speculation regarding his future, with the Daily Mail claiming the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in him. But the 25-year-old insists he would one day love to play for Liverpool, who battered Watford 5-0 a couple of weeks back at Anfield.
“Liverpool is a club that needs no introduction,” Doucoure told Canal Plus (h/t the Daily Mail).
“I was desperate to play at Anfield, I wanted to feel the atmosphere. For me it would be a dream to play for a club like this.
“I am grateful to Watford, I have the confidence of this club, it is the one who revealed me to the Premier League.
“If there is an offer, we will discuss to find the best solution. Everyone wants to play in the Champions League, the big competitions.”
Doucoure has been in terrific form this season and I am sure Watford will want to keep hold of their talismanic midfielder next season as they look to make good progress under new boss Javi Gracia.
The former Rennes man has left down a marker this season with a series of top displays for Watford. Doucoure looks all set for a bright future and if he continues to progress like he’s done so far, he will surely end up representing a big club in the future.
