According to Liverpoolfc.com, Adam Lallana is ‘raring to go’ in the business end of the season as the midfielder declared himself fully fit for the recommencement of club football.
The 29-year-old has attained full fitness after making his first England appearance of the season on Tuesday evening. He played the final half-hour of the 1-1 draw with Italy at Wembley.
The midfielder has only started one league game for the Reds this term after a thigh injury he sustained in pre-season.
According to Liverpoolfc.com, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was in talks with Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate before the international break, discussing Lallana’s fitness following the series of injuries the player has suffered from this campaign.
However, Lallana was involved in Tuesday’s international friendly against Italy and returned to Melwood on Wednesday, declaring he is now hopeful of playing a part in Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace.
“I feel I’m physically and mentally as fresh as anyone going into the back end of the season and going into the World Cup,” Lallana told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I’m fully fit now. I had to manage myself, probably for the first couple of days, hence why I wasn’t involved over in Holland, but it’s been a great end to the week. Personally, it is great to be back out there in an England shirt for the first time this season, since last summer.
“I go back to my club now and I’ve got Palace at the weekend, then Manchester City, then the Merseyside derby, then City. So it doesn’t stop.”
Lallana missed the first three months of the season but feels his return to full fitness coincides with the most important part of the season.
Liverpool face Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League next month, with the first-leg slated to take place at Anfield on Wednesday. While progressing in the Champions League remains a priority, the Reds are also fighting tooth and nail to secure a place in Premier League’s top four this campaign.
Lallana wants to be part of Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad after making his first England appearance since June.
“It’s been a different challenge for me this year. I’ve had a long lay-off but I’m back for the business end of the season and I’ve got to look at the positives,” he added.
“I’ve got a World Cup coming up, some really important league games, and the quarter-finals of the Champions League. So if I had to be back fit for one part of the season then it’s the back end, the business part. I’m raring to go.”
It is a great time for Lallana to come back to full fitness and let’s hope he helps Liverpool finish the season on a high.
