As per a report from Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws (h/t The Mirror), Liverpool are interested in a summer move for Gent winger Moses Simon. The Nigerian star has been impressive this season and that has reportedly caught Jurgen Klopp’s eyes.
Our German gaffer deserves full credit for the exemplary performances we have put up this season but with the upcoming summer transfer window, it is important to bring in some fresh faces. One of the names on the list appears to be that of Simon’s.
The report claims that Newcastle United and Brighton have also registered an interest in him but given his potential, it makes sense for us to target him as well.
Expected to cost around £13million, Simon could prove to be a real bargain. We do have the likes of Sadio Mane and the sensational Mohamed Salah on the wings. However, we do not have Philippe Coutinho anymore and it must be noted that it was the Brazilian who had filled in for Mane when he was down with an injury earlier this season.
If either Mane or Salah was to pick up an injury next term, we would face a significant shortage of options and that is something we cannot afford. Expectations will be high next season and it is important for us to have a backup winger.
At £13million, the 22-year-old could prove to be a valuable choice for us and this is a deal Klopp must actively pursue.
