Liverpool are looking to make a swoop for Christian Koffi in the summer, according to L’Equipe. The French paper claims that Christian Koffi will be out of contract with the Ligue 1 club in the summer.
This would mean that he can move to any club that he wants and the Reds are interested in the 17-year-old. The report goes on to say that Liverpool would be holding contract talks with Koffi in the next few days.
L’Equipe also goes on to claim that the playing style of Koffi is similar to one of our leading stars, Sadio Mane, who was on the scoresheet when we defeated Manchester City in our Champions League quarter-final first leg.
Koffi mostly plays for the U19 side of the Ligue 1 club. The 17-year-old has made a couple of appearances in the UEFA Youth League this season but played just 18 minutes in the two games.
The youngster is yet to make his first senior club appearance for Monaco but moving away from the club could help his growth.
Liverpool have a number of youngsters that are doing great and the competition to break into the first-team is certainly going to be tough for any new player joining the side.
We have the likes of Ben Woodburn, Ryan Kent, Sheyi Ojo, Rhian Brewster and Harry Wilson waiting in the wings to get first-team action and it will be interesting to see how the development of these players takes place in the coming months.
Koffi would have a host of clubs to choose from at the end of the season, and hopefully, he picks the right one for his development.
