[Photos] Klopp hands first-team stars a day off as U-18s train with the seniors ahead of Everton clash

Liverpool players were straight back to training at Melwood on Thursday after their sensational Champions League victory over Manchester City on Wednesday.

None of the players who started the game against Manchester City were involved in the training session as manager Jurgen Klopp provided them a day off for recovery.

The remaining players arrived at the Melwood training base to begin preparations for the weekend’s game against Everton at Goodison Park.

Liverpool are in the midst of an injury crisis ahead of a really important week in their campaign. The likes of Emre Can, Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Adam Lallana are all set to miss the game against Everton, while Mohamed Salah remains a big doubt.

With a depleted squad, Klopp allowed a few members of Steven Gerrard’s Under-18 side to train with the first-team. Curtis Jones was spotted training with Liverpool’s first-team squad. Jones has scored 15 goals this season and continues to be rated very highly.

Rafael Camacho, who has scored 7 goals this season for the Under-18s, was also seen training at the Melwood. With speed and trickery, the young Portuguese is a treat to watch.

Danny Ings returned to training ahead of the Merseyside derby on Saturday. The striker has been unable to find a way into Klopp’s first-team plans since returning from injury.

Dominic Solanke was also pictured in training after the youngster made a 20-minute cameo against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Nathaniel Clyne was all smiling at Melwood as he continues to wait for his first start since recovering from a back injury. With injuries piling up, I think the right-back could start at Everton.

Klopp should rotate his team for the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park this weekend as he manages a hectic April schedule.
