Ray Parlour says Liverpool are just two or three players away from challenging for Premier League

According to pundit Ray Parlour, Liverpool are just a couple of signings short of becoming serious title challengers next campaign.

Liverpool pocketed £142million in January after the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona. There is still a lot of money left, which could be used in the summer, although it remains to be seen whether Jurgen Klopp invests on bringing a forward to beef up his attacking options, with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in blistering form, having scoring 79 goals between them this season.

As reported by the Express, a goalkeeper remains a priority as Liverpool bid to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour feels that there will be some major transfer activity at Anfield this summer.

“I think they might only be two or three players away from the title,” Parlour told The Debate, as quoted by the Express.

“Lots of clubs like Manchester United and Manchester City will strengthen, as well as Spurs who are only two or three players away from making a challenge.

“I think it will be interesting next season. The transfer market will be unbelievable to see who goes where. Liverpool are only two or three players away.

“There were question marks over the goalkeeper, but he’s been better. Maybe it is to do with Van Dijk. Klopp has highlighted the positions of players he needs to bring in.”

We need a couple of signings in the summer transfer window and that would make us serious title contenders next season. While Naby Keita is set to arrive from RB Leipzig in June, Liverpool do need a strong and quick holding midfielder, capable of shielding the defence and set up attacks from the middle of the park.

Once we get a robust defensive midfielder, a back-up for Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane would be of utmost importance. Adam Lallana is not reliable, as he has suffered a lot of injuries in the last couple of years. So it would be wise to get a top quality attacker ahead of next season.
