James Rodriguez

As per a report from Spanish outlet El Gol Digital (h/t the Express), Liverpool have a golden opportunity to sign Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez. The player is currently serving a two-year loan spell with German giants Bayern Munich but the report claims that Rodriguez is bored with life in the Bundesliga since there is a significant lack of competition.

The report has also gone on to claim that Liverpool are interested in securing a move for him this summer. Since the player is seemingly eyeing an exit from the Allianz Arena, it would make sense for us to make an attempt to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.

Rodriguez has never failed to impress. Be it with Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, the 26-year-old attacker has been a powerful player and is capable of wreaking havoc on the opposition. The report has also stated that Liverpool are viewing him as the ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona earlier in January.

As is the case with all Real Madrid players, Rodriguez will not come cheap. That said, there are other areas that require strengthening and it remains to be seen if our gaffer splurges the cash to boost an area that is already quite strong.

After all, the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have been one of the best players in the Premier League this season. Throw in Roberto Firmino and you have a lethal front trio that can trouble the toughest of opponents.

On the flipside, if the move does go through, it must be noted that Klopp has been on the lookout for an attacking midfielder for a long time now and Rodriguez could turn the Liverpool attack into a truly formidable unit next season.

“The player informed that he would not sign a contract” – Liverpool handed boost as midfield dynamo refuses contract extension at PSG

Adrien Rabiot of PSG

Liverpool have been handed a major boost in their hopes of signing Adrien Rabiot. Antero Henrique, Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, has confirmed that the midfielder will not be signing a new deal with the team.

The player is out of a contract at the end of the season, and the Metro reports that PSG and the player have been in negotiations for a few months.

Henrique was asked by Yahoo Sport France (h/t Metro) if contract negotiations would continue with the Frenchman, and he replied:

“At this point, no.

“It was a decision made by the club following a meeting I had with the player.

“The player informed me that he would not sign a contract and that he wanted to leave the club by being free at the end of the season, at the end of his contract.”

The PSG sporting director further claimed that this decision would affect Rabiot’s time at the club, and he would be benched for an “indefinite period”.

Henrique certainly was not best pleased with the situation as he lashed out on Rabiot’s agent too, claiming the club had been “misled”, and called the situation as “disrespectful” for the fans.

The 23-year-old Rabiot is one of the brightest midfielders in Ligue 1, and he would be an incredible signing on the cheap or on a free.

The report claims that PSG could decide to sell the midfielder for a cut-price deal in the winter window rather than lose him for nothing next season.

Liverpool are currently stacked with options in the midfield, but we can also do with someone of Rabiot’s ability in the side.

“I’m looking for another one like it” – Mohamed Salah opens about ambitions and more in latest interview with GQ

Mohamed Salah GQ

Mohamed Salah has the world in his hands and there is no stopping him from becoming one of the best football players ever.

The Egyptian seems to get everything right on the football pitch and recently was on the cover of GQ Middle East.

The Liverpool star spoke on a wide range of topics such as taking Egypt to the World Cup after 28 years and how he had to sacrifice a lot to start his European football journey in Switzerland.

The 26-year-old moved to Liverpool last season and has been one of the best players in the world. The magazine asked him about the Merseyside derby goal at Anfield and the Egyptian claimed that there is more to come (h/t GQ):

“Of course that makes me feel great, and makes me want to work harder and to continue performing.

“Because after that if your standards drop, people will not accept it. It’s a great feeling, but I don’t see it as more pressure.”

Mohamed Salah scores for Liverpool

Last season was brilliant for Salah as he picked up numerous awards but the forward wants to achieve more this time around:

“For me it was of course a fantastic, historic season which I’m very proud of, but I’m looking for another one like it.

“I’m not going to live off it. On the contrary it made me more excited and determined for this season.”

Salah certainly has been one of our great buys in recent years, and even if he isn’t scoring as often as he did last season, we still are on top of the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp hints at copying Arsenal’s creativity ahead of festive games

Jurgen Klopp Liverpool training

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hinted that he might take a note out of Arsenal’s books when it comes to managing the starting XI in the festive period.

The Reds defeated Manchester United 3-1 to stay at the top of the Premier League but we are stretched when it comes to fit defenders.

Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold weren’t fit for the United clash, and Nathaniel Clyne got a chance to impress as the right-back.

Arsenal are facing a similar problem and had to play Granit Xhaka in their defence, although they lost the clash 3-2.

Klopp was interviewed by NBCSN (h/t Daily Star) and claimed we might be up to some tinkering at the back:

“We cannot rotate the defence too much because that’s the last man standing.

“But if Clyne or one of the centre-halves need a rest, we don’t have a solution anymore.

“We will maybe have to be creative like Arsenal.

“I saw the lineup they had and they had to be creative.”

The German was told by Lee Dixon that this move from Arsenal didn’t work, but Klopp believed the team has to take chances this time of the year.

Liverpool play Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday before facing Newcastle, Arsenal, Manchester City and Wolves again (FA Cup) in a span of 16 days.

Our team needs to be at their best to win all the ties but we have to be careful regarding the fitness of the players too.
