According to AS Roma president James Pallotta, star goalkeeper Alisson Becker will not be sold at any cost in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has been one of the stars for Roma this season and has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer. Alisson is one of the most in-demand goalkeepers in world football due to his brilliant displays in the Italian capital.
The Brazil international still has three years left on his contract and Pallotta has revealed that one of Roma’s highly-prized asset is going nowhere at the end of the season.
“We have no intention of selling him,” Pallotta told Sky Sport Italia (h/t the Independent).
“I mean zero at all. I’m sure some people will probably come in with some bids, but I don’t have any interest in selling him, he’s a great goalkeeper.
“When we got him, I thought the same thing and as far as I’m concerned, I mean no.”
Liverpool have been linked with Alisson Becker time and again this season with Brazilian news outlet Esporte claiming in February that the Roma goalkeeper prefers a move to Anfield, ahead of PSG and Real Madrid.
Alisson’s talent certainly isn’t in doubt, and he’s won Roma plenty of points for Roma this season already. He only became a regular at the Italian capital this season following the departure of Wojciech Szczesny.
With his quick reflexes and shot-stopping abilities, the Brazilian has gained a reputation as one of the best stoppers in Europe.
However, after Pallotta’s claims, it appears that Alisson is not going to be sold at the end of the campaign. As far as Liverpool are concerned, Loris Karius has done admirably well in the last couple of months and deserves to start as our No.1 next season.
