Liverpool 6-4 favourites to sign 17-year-old Championship prodigy

According to Coral (h/t the Express), Liverpool have been made the favourites to sign Fulham’s teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon in the summer.

“Liverpool are leading the chase to sign Ryan Sessegnon, according to the betting, however, it looks like all the top Premier League clubs are interested in the Fulham player, therefore, there could be a bidding war for his services this summer,” John Hill told Coral, as quoted by the Express.

Sessegnon has been in blistering form this season in the Championship, with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal alongside Liverpool being keen to secure his signature, reports the Express.

The 17-year-old Sessegnon, who was recently named the as the Championship’s Player of the Year, has scored an eye-catching 14 goals in 41 appearances for Fulham this campaign. He did make his debut for the Cottagers last season but has been a revelation this term, helping Fulham to third place in the Championship table.

Tottenham were thought to be the frontrunners for Sessegnon’s signature but currently, it is Liverpool who are at the odds of 6-4 to clinch the deal for Fulham’s wonderkid, as per Coral (h/t the Express).

Such has been the impact of Sessegnon at Fulham that he has looked like a big fish in a small pond. A typical modern full-back, the 17-year-old loves to bomb forward and help his teammates in their attacking endeavours.

Sessegnon has time and again stretched opposition defences on the counter-attack as he drifts infield and beyond the central striker whenever he has played on the left-wing.

The Express states that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds could splash the cash on a new left-back should Alberto Moreno depart in the summer and are ready to turn Sessegnon into an attacker in the near future.

The report also claims that Spurs are at odds of 9-4, while Arsenal are at 7-2. Meanwhile, Manchester City and Manchester United are odds at 4-1 and 11-2 respectively, adds the report.

While Andrew Robertson has performed very well this season at left-back, Liverpool must still sign Sessegnon in the summer as the England youth international is quick, agile, versatile and has a sky-high potential to become a future star.

Sessegnon’s impressive performances for Fulham have made him one of the most sought-after youngsters in the English game. While his attacking threat has often been the talking point, it is astonishing to see the 17-year-old composure when it comes to defending.
