Transfer blow for Liverpool as Man City enter advanced negotiations for £52m-rated star

As per a recent report from Daily Express, Liverpool have been interested in signing Napoli midfielder Jorginho for a while now. The talented Brazilian has been one of the most impressive players in Europe this season and it comes as no surprise that Jurgen Klopp has been monitoring him for a potential move.

However, if a tweet from journalist Jose Alvarez Haya is to be believed, Manchester City are in advanced negotiations to acquire Jorginho’s services this summer.

Napoli have been absolutely phenomenal in the Serie A this season and are quite close to displacing Juventus at the top of the Serie A table.

Currently placed 2nd in the points table, the Naples-based outfit are just one point behind Massimiliano Allegri’s men and there is no doubting the fact that Jorginho has played a key role in helping them get to where they are.

With Emre Can’s future uncertain, it is of utmost importance for us to sign a defensive-minded midfielder and Jorginho looks ideal.

He is a deep-lying playmaker by trade and possesses exceptional abilities to impact and influence the attacks. Jorginho is particularly strong in counter-attacking situations and a player like him could work wonders for us.

Furthermore, a report from The Guardian has claimed his price tag is estimated to be in the region of £52m, which is a fair price to pay for a player of Jorginho’s calibre. It remains to be seen if City actually succeed in signing him but even if there is the tiniest of scope for us to make a move, I think that the club must go for it.
