Alisson

Liverpool’s requirement of signing a new goalkeeper this summer is as clear as the fact that the sky is blue. Simon Mignolet has been underwhelming between the sticks while Loris Karius’ performances have been just about average.

Both goalkeepers have made a set of costly errors throughout this campaign and if we are to harbour any hopes of making a serious title challenge next season, it is imperative that we bring in a new keeper. According to a report from Metro, AS Roma have confirmed our interest in their hotshot keeper Alisson Becker.

Becker has been lauded time and again for his brilliant performances this season. His exceptional shot-stopping abilities, quick reflexes and knowledge of the game have set him apart and he has played a key role in all of Roma’s successful exploits so far this season.

A move for him makes complete sense. We need a uniquely gifted player to act as our first-choice keeper to aid our hopes of getting to the next level.

One cannot deny Ederson’s role in helping Manchester City success this season. Although this is his debut season in the Premier League, Ederson has hit the ground running and has essayed a crucial role for Pep Guardiola. However, as per Shay Given, Alisson is better than the City keeper and he could truly flourish if he were to join Liverpool.

“He has broken into the Roma team after (Wojciech) Szczesny was the No 1 before he went to Juventus last summer,” Given said on Sky Sports News (h/t Daily Express).

“He has taken the shirt and he’s been fantastic all season. He’s the Brazilian No 1 as well and we’ve all seen Ederson play for Man City this year and how good he’s been and this guy’s ahead of him.

“There’s a lot of speculation that he will be leaving Roma.”

Well, that is true and for all his skills, it is crucial that we go all out for him instead of losing him.
