Liverpool fans lose the plot on Twitter as Reds star signs massive 5-year deal
As per Liverpool’s official website, Brazilian powerhouse Roberto Firmino has signed a massive new five-year deal with the club.
Upon his arrival from Hoffenheim in 2015, Firmino has gone on to play a key role for us. He is a lethal attacker who is capable of instilling fear into the toughest of opponents and that has reflected in his partnership with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
The wide attackers have been touted as one of the best across Europe and Firmino has linked up with them to establish a new-look Liverpool attack.
The former Bundesliga star has worked wonders with Jurgen Klopp and has thrived under the manager’s guidance at Anfield.
He has contributed a total of 26 goals and 13 assists across competitions for Liverpool so far this season and his displays on the field have been absolutely fantastic to watch.
Undoubtedly, Firmino will be a key player for Brazil in the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia as well. He is enjoying some of the best years of his career and the striker will be key to our fortunes in the seasons to come.
Our fellow Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to express their feelings about the new deal. Our fan base is known to be a witty bunch and this time, it was no different. Take a look at some of the best tweets:
That’s loyalty. That’s someone who sees a club going somewhere. Thsts a player who trusts the manager. That’s a player who doesn’t stab the club in the back. That’s the best Brazilian to play for Liverpool.
That’s Roberto Firmino.

Hopefully Roberto Firmino retires here. He understands exactly what it means to play for Liverpool and his love and appreciation for the fans is second to none. He is one of the few players at this club that are genuinely irreplaceable.

Bobby Firmino lifting the Champions League Trophy – whilst looking the opposite way, could quite possibly be the best thing to ever happen in football.

Bobby Firmino no-look signing his new contract while whistling 'Allez Allez Allez' might just be the best thing that's ever happened.

Pretty much since Klopp came in, Firmino has been the heartbeat of this Liverpool team. This season he's elevated his game to another level completely. Brilliant news that he's signed a new long term deal and indicative of how well the club is progressing.

Firmino viritually secured his prime at LFC with his new deal. Given he’s our most important player, and one of those rare player who understands and lives by all the clubs values, morals and culture – this extension feels even better than most. Fingers crossed he retires here

Whatever Can does or doesn’t do in the next few months, pails in significance to Firmino signing a new contract. One of the most important players if not the most important. GET IN! #LFC

New contract for Firmino will pay him £180,000-a-week. Pretty good but when you look at his season and the fact that he’s world class and compare him to other players in the league, he should be paid more.
