It was a match of epic proportions as AS Roma put in a solid fight to win 4-2 at Stadio Olimpico. However, Liverpool were ahead by one goal in terms of aggregate and finally, we are on our way to Kiev.
Sadio Mane opened the scoring with a well-taken shot but that was followed by an own goal from James Milner which helped Roma equalise. Georginio Wijnaldum scored the second goal for the Reds and at that point, it looked like Roma had no chances of making a comeback.
However, after the break, Edin Dzeko scored and then Radja Nainggolan added another towards the end of the game. He also netted a goal from the spot before the final whistle and while that helped Roma notch up a splendid win, the club failed to overturn our advantage from the previous game.
Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk were our standout performers by a mile. Surprisingly, Mohamed Salah had a rather quiet game and he failed to do much against his former club.
The rest of our players were pretty solid but they all deserve credit for the way they managed to weather the storm. Here’s how our fanbase reacted on Twitter:
Liverpool fans truly deserve the ballondor for the best fans #LFC

Deleted my tactical analysis and predictions for the final. Entering full Liverpool top red propaganda mode until Sir Jordan Brian Henderson lifts the 6th on the 26th.

Supporting @LFC will never be quiet. How can a team looks so brilliant but at the same time seems fragile? Only God knows what will happen in Kiev. #YNWA

Liverpool have scored more goals in the Champions League this season than Everton have scored in the premier league! #ROMLIV

Keep in mind @LFC has played miles better this season when pinned as the underdog. @realmadrid doesn’t know what’s coming.
