Liverpool just about made it through to the Champions League final even after a 4-2 loss in Rome. Our lead from the leg at Anfield, a 5-2 rout, was enough to take us to the final and there were lots of celebrations at the Stadio Olimpico led by Jordan Henderson, our captain.
While the fans, and even our manager, celebrated the victory, Henderson took time out to single out Sean Cox, the fan who had been injured by Roma fans in the first leg at Anfield.
Our captain took out a banner to support the fan who is still in the hospital, which is an incredible gesture and a number of our players also took time out to pay his respects and show their support.
Twitter was full of appreciation for Henderson and the team and here are some of the tweets from the social networking site.
Biggest night of Jordan Henderson’s career and his first thought is asking a steward to get the banner for Sean Cox. He has his critics but he deserves a lot of respect. Hope he lifts the European Cup in Kiev. My captain. pic.twitter.com/fsyvdUsdjR

Captains Liverpool to the Champions League Final and the first thing he does is grab this flag to show respect to Sean Cox. But you know, Henderson isn’t fit to captain Liverpool apparently pic.twitter.com/bVT66D72st

Jordan Henderson asks a steward to bring a banner for Sean Cox down to the pitch for the players. Top work from the captain.

That Henderson getting the banner for Shaun Cox thing. Fair play to him. That’s the act of a captain of LFC I can fully appreciate.

Can’t say I’ve been his biggest fan but Jordan Henderson the way he led us over these two legs. Topped with getting the Sean Cox banner. I take it back- he’s been a true leader. Fair play to our captain.
