Mohamed Salah explains the reason why he hasn’t scored in the last two games to Carragher

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah might not have scored in the 4-2 loss against AS Roma in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final but the Egyptian claims he is saving the goals for the final.

We came into the second leg with a 5-2 lead from the tie at Anfield and got off to a good start with Sadio Mane opening the scoring. Cue a lot of back and forth and we ended the night conceding two late goals but qualified for the final courtesy of a 7-6 win on aggregate.

Salah scored a brace in the 5-2 win over Roma in the first leg and was speaking to Jan Aage Fjortoft, Jamie Carragher and John Arne Riise after the game.

Carra asked if Salah would be aiming to win the Ballon d’Or to which the Egyptian stated that he has not scored in the last two games. You can see Salah’s part of the interview roughly from the sixth minute onwards.

Our former defender then added that Salah might be dropped for the final if he does not score in our match against Chelsea to which our top scorer said:

“I just keep some goals, maybe for the final.”

Salah also spoke about the chances of the club picking up the sixth Champions League crown against defending champions Real Madrid.

“Our chances are 50-50 because you play in the final.

“We have only one game to win the Champions League and I said in the beginning I would love to win title here with the club.”

The Egyptian was not getting ahead of himself as he also stated that the aim of the club would be to concentrate on the next two games in the Premier League and then prepare for an almighty clash against Real Madrid in a few weeks.

Salah has been exceptional for us this season and if we can keep our squad fit for the final in Kiev, there is no doubt we can score a few goals against Cristiano Ronaldo and company.

The worrying factor will be the defence but hopefully, Jurgen Klopp will be formulating a plan to provide another incredible European night for the Reds.
