Jurgen Klopp could be looking to move for Barcelona keeper Jasper Cillessen, according to reports coming in from Spain.

A report from Don Balon (h/t The Express) claims that the German wants Liverpool to sign a quality keeper in the summer and will move for the Barcelona number two.

The former Ajax keeper has been on the books of Barca for a number of years but has not been able to usurp Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s claim between the sticks. The Dutch keeper has only played one Champions League game this season but has played seven games in the Copa del Rey.

He could leave the Catalan side in search of more playing time. The keeper was quoted by the Express recently as he spoke about his love for the club but his desire to play more.

“I love this club, but I am a professional and I want to play more than 10 games every season — it’s that simple.

“The management already know [I want to play more], but I also read that they don’t want me to leave and they’re happy with my work.

“I’m not the type of player to go to war with a club.

“I’ve been here, in Barcelona, for two years and, for now, I’m going to continue.”

We have been linked with a number of keepers ever since problems rose with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius. Mignolet seems set for a move away from Anfield in the summer but Karius has done well since being made the first-choice at the club.

The German is still fairly young and will get better should he play more for us. Cillessen is regarded as one of the better keepers in the world and it will be interesting to see how Klopp deals with this issue. There is no doubt that we would be looking to sign a number of players as we look to challenge for the Premier League crown – and a player like Cillessen could prove to be beneficial.
