According to a report by The Mirror, Liverpool are one of the Premier League clubs harbouring an interest in Ukrainian shot-stopper Andriy Lunin. Although the youngster is being targeted by Leicester City and Watford, The Mirror claims Liverpool are the front-runners in the race to his signature.

Currently playing for Zorya Luhansk in the Ukrainian Premier League, Lunin has been earning rave reviews for his performances between the sticks. Despite being just 19 years of age, Lunin boasts of exceptional goalkeeping skills.

The youngster’s lightning-fast reflexes and knowledge have established him as one of the most promising teenagers and it comes as no surprise that Liverpool are lurking around for a possible deal.

Although our attack has been absolutely phenomenal this season, our defence undeniably needs work and a lot of it. The inclusion of Virgil van Dijk has tightened our overall solidity at the back but we need a new goalkeeper this summer.

Simon Mignolet’s performances have been far from satisfactory and Loris Karius has effectively displaced him as Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice. However, going forward, it will be important to have another quality keeper in the ranks and Lunin certainly seems like a great option.

The teenager has appeared 34 times for Zorya this term and has also played all of their Europa League matches. However, if the deal were to go through, The Mirror claims Lunin would find himself behind Mignolet and Karius in the pecking order at Anfield.

It might be tough to convince a youngster like Lunin to move to Liverpool as he would have to be the third-choice keeper. However, the promise of winning trophies and competing in the Champions League might appeal to Lunin.
