Emre Can’s transfer saga has taken a lot of twists and turns in recent times but as per a report from Corriere dello Sport (h/t Metro), the German is set to join Juventus on a free transfer at the end of the season. The report goes on to claim that the deal could be announced by Juve just 24 hours after our Champions League final against Real Madrid.
Can has been at the receiving end of a lot of criticism this season for his lacklustre and inconsistent displays. However, due to a lack of quality options, Jurgen Klopp had to utilise Can on a regular basis. The youngster did perform well on certain occasions but for all his talent, expectations were sky-high from him.
Unfortunately for Can, his performances did not match up. With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, it comes as no surprise that Juventus want him.
The midfielder has not featured for Liverpool since the victory against Watford in March. Can sustained a back injury and he is yet to recover from it.
In fact, it is doubtful as to whether or not he would even play the scintillating Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev.
Well, if Can truly wishes to leave Anfield, no one can stop him. However, the timing of it seems to be rather odd. After years of struggle, Liverpool are finally on the verge of turning the tables. We are close to winning the Champions League and we are capable of launching a serious title challenge next term.
That said, if the report holds any truth to it, let’s wish Can all the best for his Juventus career.
