Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold has had a fantastic season for Liverpool and it got a little better when the youngster was named in Gareth Southgate’s 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russia.

The 19-year-old has played a crucial role in our Champions League run and with the players taking a training trip to Marbella ahead of the Champions League final, Trent learned about his inclusion in the Three Lions team.

The youngster was speaking to the Liverpool website where he spilt the beans on how Jurgen Klopp shared the news of the player going to Russia.

“I found out this morning, just before we came out to Marbella. The manager came and spoke to me just as we were getting on the plane.

“He asked me if I knew anything about the squad or anything yet. I said, ‘no’ and he said, ‘Have you got anything planned around the time of the World Cup?’ I was like, ‘No, no holidays or anything…’

“He said to me, ‘OK, good… You’re in the squad!’ It was a really proud moment. On England’s behalf, it was nice of them to let the manager tell me.”

Trent was also very thankful to the other Liverpool players as he believes it would not have happened without their support.

“Everyone who has played a part, I just want to say thanks to them because without them, I wouldn’t be where I am or who I am today. It’s a thanks to all of them. I hope they can all feel as proud as I do about getting the call-up,” the player continued.

The youngster has played 30 games for us in all competitions this season and even has a couple of goals and assists to his name.

The right-back will hope to perform at his best when he goes up against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the Champions League final. The perfect way to get ready for the World Cup would be winning the Champions League with Liverpool and let’s hope the boys do it.
