Bobby explains the reason behind his crazy goal celebrations – It’s a tribute to Brazilian legend

Ask any Liverpool fan about their favourite Brazilian and the answer will undoubtedly be Roberto Firmino. The star striker has led the Reds attack with gusto and has become a household name across Anfield in recent times. While he is widely renowned for goalscoring exploits, Firmino has also attracted attention for what comes after.

Over the years, a lot of footballers have been known to have some crazy goal celebrations and Firmino is certainly not one to be left behind as he lit up the Premier League with some astounding skills.

Be it his trademark dance moves or his famous no-look goals, Firmino also often does a karate-kick of sorts when it comes to congratulating his fellow teammates for scoring on the field.

While many of us were wondering what could be the real reason behind his strange yet delightful antics, Firmino has thrown some light on the matter in a recent interview.

The 26-year-old attributed his celebrations to his boyhood hero and Brazilian legend, Ronaldinho. As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Firmino said:

“I always modelled myself on Ronaldinho. He was one of my favourites who I followed a lot – his magic, made us want to imitate him and his football.

“Is my goal celebration a tribute to him? Yes, of course. I like him a lot.”

Well, now that the cat is out of the bag, his crazy goal celebrations do make sense. He has enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Premier League and has been a key member of our attacking unit.

As he’s established an unbreakable partnership with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, I cannot wait to see what Firmino has in store for us in the epic Champions League final against Real Madrid at Kiev. Let’s hope the Brazilian is able to increase his tally and bless us with more of his scintillating moves.
