As per a report by The Mirror, Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir’s potential move to Liverpool is “99 percent complete”. The Ligue 1 star has been a hot target for Liverpool in recent times and it looks like we are edging closer to snapping up his services.

The report goes on to claim that Fekir is expected to cost us in the region of £60million. It might sound steep but in today’s market, it is worth it to pay that for a player of his calibre.

Fekir’s stats from the recently concluded season are more than enough to deduce that he would be a great signing at Anfield. He scored a whopping 23 goals across competitions for Lyon while also providing 9 assists. In addition to that, he created 52 chances in 26 Ligue 1 games for the club, which is a decent return from an attacking midfielder.

As far as Liverpool are concerned, there has been a shortage of creativity in the midfield. Although our front trio comprising of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino has been scoring goals day in and day out, the lack of a creative outlet in the midfield has limited our growth to a certain extent.

Signing a player like Fekir will undoubtedly rectify that. It remains to be seen if the deal goes through but if we succeed in doing so, it goes without saying that he will be one of our key performers in the seasons to come.
