With Liverpool’s upcoming Champions League final against Real Madrid, there has been a lot of speculation about two of their biggest superstars – Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Barring the fact that they play on opposite wings, Salah and Ronaldo are quite similar in terms of the role they occupy in their team. Both players are key to the clubs’ goalscoring fortunes and they seem to have no trouble banging in goals on any given day.
Thus, going into this game, it is safe to say that all eyes will be on the two. However, since the transfer window is in full swing, Zinedine Zidane was asked in a recent interview if he would like to swap Salah for Ronaldo.
As quoted by Daily Express, the Real Madrid manager responded saying,
“No, I have Cristiano and I talk about my players.”
When asked about the game, Zidane went on to say that Liverpool have enjoyed a brilliant season in the English top-flight and in the Champions League. He also admitted that the Reds could cause an upset.
Well, swapping Ronaldo and Salah is out of the question. Salah has been exceptional for us in numerous ways and while Ronaldo is one of the world’s greatest players, it is highly unlikely for him to join us owing to his Manchester United ties.
Regardless, rumours aside, it is clear that we have the stage set for a solid showdown this weekend. If Liverpool manage to beat the European giants in the Champions League, suffice to say that it will be a historic moment for us.
