Liverpool handed massive transfer boost as Italian club drops asking price to £35m for top goalkeeper

Gianluigi Donnarumma

AC Milan have reduced the valuation of their star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports from Italy. The Serie A giants need to sell players to meet Financial Fair Play regulations and the 19-year-old keeper could be one of the stars to be sold in the summer.

The report from Corriere dello sport (h/t The Express) claims that Milan had set a price tag of £61million earlier in the year but that number has come crashing down to £35million.

Milan did spend a lot of money at the start of the season in hopes of making it into the Champions League next season but after a bright start, things did not go their way and they ended up finishing 6th.

Liverpool are said to be interested in the Italian custodian but will not be making a move for the youngster until after the Champions League final against Real Madrid, which takes place on Saturday.

Donnarumma has been one of the most impressive keepers in the Serie A and he could be the player to replace Gianluigi Buffon as the No.1 for the Italy national side.

Liverpool do have two first-team keepers in Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, with the latter becoming the No.1 in recent times.

Karius had only joined us at the start of last season and has slowly gotten better with games under his belt. The 24-year-old has impressed in recent weeks but there has been constant speculation about the future of the German.

Alisson, the Roma goalkeeper, has been another player linked heavily with a move to Anfield and it will be interesting to see just where the Brazilian does end up before the start of next season.

Liverpool will be looking to add more quality to the side as they look to challenge for the Premier League title and maybe investing in a quality keeper can create the stable base to win the elusive Premier League crown.
