According to a report by The Guardian, Liverpool will step up their attempts to acquire the signature of Lyon captain Nabil Fekir, who is estimated to be valued around €70million.
The talented Frenchman played a key role in Lyon’s top-three finish in the Ligue 1 and in addition to that, he also managed to secure a spot for himself in France’s squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup next month.
An attacking midfielder by trade, Fekir is one of the most creative players in European football right now and it comes as no surprise that Liverpool are aggressively pursuing a deal for him.
Fekir’s price tag of €70million is certainly high up there as far as midfielders are concerned but considering his skills, it seems like it could be worth it.
In 26 French top-flight appearances this season, Fekir managed to score 17 goals and created 52 chances, as per Squawka. These numbers go on to show that he is not only adept at scoring goals but is also extremely resourceful when it comes to providing service.
With a front trio comprising the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, a player like Fekir could truly take our game to the next level.
As things stand, Philippe Coutinho’s departure to Barcelona took quite a toll on our creativity up front but signing the Lyon star could go a long way in resolving that.
Hence, Liverpool must do everything they can to sign a player like Fekir, even if it means shelling out a fee in the region of €70million.
