As Liverpool gear up for their most important match in a decade or so, facing Real Madrid for the Champions League title, an inspirational video from Rapid Response Unit (RRU) has captured perfectly what Mohamed Salah means to the people of Anfield.
The Egyptian joined Liverpool at the start of the season and has fired us to a top-four finish. We are one victory away from winning the Champions League.
The 25-year-old has wowed us all with his finishing and humility and a special poem, ‘Ode to Mo’ by Musa Okwonga features people from all walks of life from Liverpool reciting the special poem.
Here are the words to the special poem:
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah
The Muslim Maestro! -Cairo’s Hero!-
The Golden Smile of the Nile!
The World’s Swiftest Egyptian
(Blink, you’ll miss him).
His scoring rate is one a game,
So once a match
Anfield becomes his prayer mat.
Of course he and this city go hand in hand –
They love a frontman of an all-action band –
Thus this Afro-haired angel is Top of the Docks.
He has three superhuman abilities:
Speed. Finishing. Humility.
The players’ choice,
The people’s choice,
He brings us together with his grin.
Mohamed Salah: in the Scousers’ crown,
He is the shining crystal
And the only force that can stop him
Is the final whistle.
From bus drivers, police personnel, barmaids, barbers, street artists and school children, the video certainly has shown how Salah has won over the hearts of the people of Liverpool.
The Liverpool Echo also quoted the RRU on Salah and the biggest game of the season:
“‘Ode To Mo’ celebrates all that Salah has come to represent as he is about to play in the biggest game in European Club football in front of a global audience of billions having just received the coveted Golden Boot Award.”
The RRU also added that they chose to make a short film about the former Roma man because he is a ‘positive, friendly, polite’ role-model.
Hopefully, this positivity will help us win the trophy and cap off a wonderful season that has made us smile, laugh and enjoy.
