Sergio Ramos might be an excellent defender for Real Madrid but he continues to be a controversial figure on the field. Often known for his harsh challenges and aggressive tackles, the Spaniard hardly ever finds any fans in the opposition camps. Suffice to say Ramos will not find any fans from this side of Merseyside after last night’s Champions League final.
The defender made a terrible tackle on our Egyptian marvel Mohamed Salah which not only prevented him from playing the game further but it has also made him a doubt for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Salah’s shoulder has been dislocated and it remains to be seen if he recovers in time for the mega international event. However, Ramos deservedly faced a lot of backlash for his unnecessary tackle.
The timing of Salah’s injury is truly unfortunate. Throughout the recent season, Salah kept scoring goals and his exploits on the field helped us book a date with Real Madrid in the first place. After scoring 44 goals in his debut campaign for Liverpool, Salah was primed to increase his tally against Los Blancos but before he could even get close to doing so as Ramos ended all his hopes.
The frustration was apparent among the Liverpool fans and it was a game-changing moment. From thereon, our attack looked blunt and in the second-half, there were no chances of us making a comeback. Reeling from the backlash, Ramos put out a Tweet wherein he wished Salah a speedy recovery. But is that enough?
El fútbol te enseña la cara más dulce a veces y la más amarga otras. Ante todo somos compañeros. Pronta recuperación, Salah. El futuro te espera.||Sometimes football shows you it's good side and other times the bad. Above all, we are fellow pros. #GetWellSoon @MoSalah
