Liverpool dominated the headlines as they announced a deal for Fabinho, worth around £43.7m. The sensational midfielder has signed a five-year deal with us and it looks like we have begun the summer transfer window with a bang.
Fabinho is an exceptionally talented footballer who can play either as a right-back or as a defensive midfielder. Both areas require strengthening in our team and it will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp utilises his services.
However, the efficiency with which Liverpool completed a deal for him is truly commendable and I cannot wait to see him work his magic in our jersey next term.
All-in-all, this is a good deal for us but if you still had a doubt, Brazil captain Thiago Silva is here to squash your worries.
In a recent interview, the player was asked about his opinion regarding the transfer since Fabinho is his international teammate and compatriot.
As quoted by Daily Star, Silva said:
“He is really smart, a really technical player and I am sure he will get adapted to the Premier League as soon as he arrives here.
“He changed his position in Monaco, he was a right-back and now he is a midfielder. I don’t know how Liverpool are thinking about using him, but I am sure they can use him in both.”
Fabinho is quite capable of organising the game well for whichever team he plays for and that is great news for Liverpool. We have lacked a solid defensive midfielder for the longest time now and with uncertainty surrounding Emre Can’s future, Fabinho could make that role his own.
With the World Cup coming up, it will be a good chance for us to see our new signing in action and let’s hope he puts in an impeccable display to make his country proud.
