According to a report by The Guardian, AS Roma will accept nothing less than €90m for rumoured Liverpool target Alisson. The goalkeeper has been a key part of their team in recent times and it comes as no surprise that they are hesitant to sell him. However, if they choose to do so, the Italian outfit will demand a staggering fee of €90m.
Liverpool have been crying out for a new goalkeeper, even more so after Loris Karius’ shock display in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
Alisson, 25, will undoubtedly prove to be an upgrade considering he is set to play as Brazil’s No.1 in the upcoming World Cup in Russia next month. In addition to that, his displays for Roma in the past season truly do showcase his skills.
As per Squawka, the Brazilian managed to record 15 clean sheets in 34 Serie A appearances and that is an impressive number. Our defenders have improved to a great extent and now, if we manage to sign a player like Alisson, we could be set to make a solid title challenge next term.
However, the asking price of €90m could prove to be a stumbling block for us. There are other areas that require strengthening as well and it remains to be seen if we are able to convince Roma in the first place.
The Guardian further claims that Roma are toying with the idea of offering Alisson a new and improved deal, which would secure his future at the club for the long-term. Regardless, if we somehow manage to sign him this summer, it would be a massive step in the right direction.
