As per a report by The Guardian, Liverpool are interested in Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha. The report also claims that the player is being monitored by London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, meaning we could face a bit of tussle in our attempt to acquire his signature.
Zaha, who currently earns £110,000-a-week, was a rock-solid force for Palace throughout their highly unpredictable season last term and he has been a reliable player for the club for a while now.
His pace and creativity up front can help boost Liverpool’s attacking department in terms of quality and squad depth but the player will have to compete with the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for a spot on the wings.
However, it must be noted that the Eagles will not let him leave without demanding a hefty fee. It remains to be seen if Zaha is happy with playing the role of a sporadic winger at Liverpool. That said, in the case of injuries to Mane or Salah, the Palace star will have a good chance of securing a first-team spot.
While this will be a good move to boost squad depth up front, Liverpool must be wary of the price tag. If Palace demand a reasonable fee, the move could benefit us but considering the fact that we need to reinforce other departments, it might not make sense to purchase a player like Zaha for an area in which we are already quite strong.
Furthermore, Zaha is a former Manchester United player and that might prevent the winger from joining us in the first place.
