Liverpool interested in Barcelona star but face competition from Serie A giants – report

Liverpool face a lot of competition to sign reported target Aleix Vidal, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t The Mirror).

The report claims that Inter Milan are interested in the services of the Spanish right-back and are willing to sign him on loan next season.

The Serie A giants would be playing in the Champions League next season and want to replace another loanee, Joao Cancelo, who spent last season at the San Siro on loan from Valencia.

The 28-year-old Spaniard started just four games for the La Liga champions last season but he did score a goal and provided an assist in 15 appearances in the league.

Surprisingly, the Spaniard actually played a more attacking role as a right midfielder or even a right winger for the Catalan giants.

While Manchester United were also linked with a move for the 28-year-old, it seems their interest has cooled off after signing

Jurgen Klopp needs to add more squad depth and we do need some players for the right-back slot even though Nathaniel Clyne should be ready for the new season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been the breakthrough of last season, alongside Andy Robertson and with games in the Champions League and the Premier League next season, we would need more cover in the side.

Vidal might be a good and cheap signing to have for the upcoming campaign and his versatility would be great for us too, given that he can play in an advanced role.

However, if the player is to leave Barcelona, he would want more regular football and that is something Klopp would not be able to guarantee to the Spaniard, due to the presence of Alexander-Arnold in the side.
