Liverpool are confident they can sign Nabil Fekir from Lyon after resuming talks with the Ligue 1 club, according to the Daily Mirror (h/t Metro).
The Reds were close to signing the 24-year-old but the deal fell through due to a knee injury that Fekir had picked up a few years ago.
There were also reports
that Manchester United had now entered the fray to sign the French forward. However, the report claims that we are speaking with Lyon again and that we’ll look to finalise the deal for the France attacker after the World Cup ends.Fekir did score 21 goals for the Ligue 1 side last season as he helped them to a Champions League position and a fee of £53million is not that bad a deal for one of the most exciting players to come out from the French league.
The 24-year-old has played in four games for France in the World Cup, all off the bench, and even played a few minutes in the incredible 4-3 win over Argentina in the round of 16.
Should Fekir continue playing in the upcoming rounds and even lift the World Cup, Lyon would want a substantial price for the 24-year-old.

Fekir could be the final piece in our new look midfield, with Fabinho and Naby Keita already at the club. The World Cup would be over in a couple of weeks and it will be crazy times once again as we look to bring in more players to mount a challenge for the Premier League.
