Liverpool have three of their brightest players in the list for the Golden Boy 2018 shortlist, according to the Liverpool Echo.

England international Trent Alexander-Arnold, who had an incredible year for us and is a part of the England squad for the World Cup, could be a contender for the award.

Ben Woodburn, who actually didn’t do a lot for the club but was excellent for the Wales national side, is another player from Liverpool making the list.

While Herbie Kane, the 19-year-old who has not featured for our first-team yet, is the third player to be named on the list.

The award was started by Tuttosport and is handed to be the best young player in Europe. It is voted by publications across the continent. All nominees have to be below 21 and while we would love to see Trent pick up the win, another 19-year-old seems to be the one to beat them all, with Kylian Mbappe again doing the business, this time for the country.

The PSG man was excellent in the 4-3 win over Argentina as he won a penalty and scored two goals to knock the South Americans out.

Trent certainly was one of the most impressive youngsters in football last season and if he can continue his growth, there is no doubt we would have found someone special who can take care of the right-back spot for years.

Woodburn though, needs more game time next season and if he is sent out on loan, it would be a good decision for us and the player too.
