Bernard is a wanted man by many clubs, with Liverpool interested in the 25-year-old Brazilian, according to UOL (h/t Daily star).
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder is a free agent after five seasons with Shakhtar Donetsk and has attracted interest not only from us but from Arsenal, West Ham United and Chinese side Jiangsu Suning.
The report claims that we have made an enquiry for the Brazilian but have not submitted a formal bid for the 25-year-old.
Bernard wants to play European football next season but that is something that only Arsenal and Liverpool can provide. West Ham, for their part, have made an actual offer for the player as they look to start a new era under former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Jiangsu Suning would not be able to provide European football to Bernard too but they will offer him a sizeable deal and moving to the club would also see the attacker link up with fellow Brazilians, Alex Teixeira and Ramires.
The 25-year-old was a decent performer for Shakhtar last season as he scored 3 goals in the Champions League and scored 6 goals from 19 appearances in the league. The Brazilian is still mooting about moving to West Ham.
While the player would not cost a lot, it does seem like we can do better and sign someone who can guarantee better performances in the league.

The player leaving on a free, when he is still 25, raises a few questions as to why no one tried to sign him earlier and maybe, we should look at more potent players than the Brazilian.
