Liverpool’s pre-season game moved to avoid a possible clash with England’s World Cup commitment

World Cup fever is certainly catching onto the clubs as Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Tranmere Rovers has been moved so that it does not clash with England’s possible semi-final match.

The Mirror reports that Liverpool were to play at Prenton Park on 11th July but the fixture has been brought forward by a day and will now take place on 10 July and kick off at 7:30 PM.

While this would ensure that fans do not miss out on the semi-final should England make it to that round of the competition, the Reds will not be able to move another match given that it clashes with England’s quarter-final clash against Sweden on 7 July.

The Reds did state that they would not be able to change the date of their first pre-season game which is against Chester on Saturday, 7 July.

However, the kick off for the game clashes with the Sweden match and Chester were unable to make last-minute changes to the match.

A statement released from the club read:

“Following England’s victory in the World Cup last night, we made every attempt to move the game, but logistically this proved a major challenge given all match tickets had been sold, and other aspects relating to matchday arrangements were unable to rearrange at short notice.”

It will be a tough decision for English fans to choose between Liverpool and England on Saturday but if things go well, we can celebrate two victories on Saturday and prepare for an incredible World Cup semi-final on 11th July as the Three Lions look to create history in Russia.
