Harry Maguire has been one of the more impressive centre-backs in the World Cup and former Liverpool star Phil Thompson believes that the Leicester City defender would be a great addition to the side.
Thompson was quoted by the Daily Star as saying that he is a big fan of the 25-year-old and Maguire has only become better with time at the World Cup.
“I was saying long before the tournament started that he has all the attributes needed to be a Liverpool player.
“He’s big, he’s strong and positionally he’s very good whether as a two or a three at the back.”
Thompson also added that the Leicester star is quicker than most people believe him to be and his ability to dominate challenges in the air makes him potent in both the offence and defence.
The former Liverpool man also claimed that Maguire is comfortable on the ball and is a better defender than John Stones.
“Harry has been one of the best defenders in the World Cup and he certainly fits Liverpool’s philosophy. I can’t speak more highly of him.”
Maguire would certainly add a lot of quality to the Liverpool side and he could possibly even replace Dejan Lovren and end up partnering Virgil van Dijk as our first choice pair.
The Englishman is someone who can pass the ball out from the back and his physicality is something any club in the Premier League can make use of.

If we are to bring the Leicester City man, we would have to pay a huge amount given that he only signed for the Foxes at the start of last season and his price will skyrocket after his performances in the World Cup.
