28-year-old Liverpool star posts encouraging message on Instagram after pre-season win

Daniel Sturridge shared an Instagram image of his opening goal against Chester and claimed that this is “just the beginning”.

The former Chelsea man has had a poor run of injuries in recent years but he did play in the 7-0 pre-season win against the lower league side and scored a couple of goals.

The 28-year-old Liverpool striker was even sent out on loan to West Bromwich Albion in the second half of last season but he failed to find the back of the net for the Baggies.

Now it seems that he wants to continue his scoring form and could be looking to stay at Liverpool for the foreseeable future.

The Metro even claims that Jurgen Klopp will decide between Divock Origi and Sturridge after the Belgian had a rough time in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg.

Klopp himself has not ruled out the chance of Sturridge leaving at the moment and added that he was impressed with what the 28-year-old did against Chester.

“I saw a lot of good things from Daniel so he needs more that he can still impress me. I know about his quality. A very positive week, very positive today, he looked really good.”

While Sturridge might have scored against a weak opposition, we must remember that this is only pre-season and the Englishman played just one half.

The rigours of playing a complete Premier League season and the Champions League might be too much for the injury-prone Englishman and maybe he was alluding to the fact that he will score more goals but not in a Liverpool shirt.

A lot of fans would love to see a fit Sturridge score bucket-loads for us but he is a major risk to have and we should sell him and get as much as we can while he is fit.
