Jordan Henderson has been hailed by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as a mature and proper leader of the England side as they progressed to the World Cup semi-final against Croatia.

Klopp could not see the England-Sweden game as we were playing a pre-season friendly against Chester and won the game 7-0, however, the German manager did have time to praise not only Hendo but also Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The German was quoted by the Express as saying:

“Yes, England are there so that’s a good result. I obviously didn’t see the match unfortunately but so far Jordan has played a brilliant World Cup.

“He’s been very mature, a proper leader in the team. You can see it. Everybody can see that this England team is offensively very skilled.”

The Liverpool manager also spoke about how important it is to have “serious” people in the side and the fact that Hendo is still involved in the attacking aspects of England’s game.

Another Liverpool star who made his World Cup debut is Trent Alexander-Arnold, as the young right-back capped off a brilliant season by making it to the Three Lions squad in Russia.

Klopp also highlighted the fact that Trent made his debut for England before the World Cup and also played in the game against Belgium in the group stages.

Our manager will certainly have an eye on how the Liverpool players do in the remaining matches of the World Cup as Dejan Lovren’s Croatia faces England for a place in the final.

A good tournament for the Liverpool players will certainly help them come back hungrier for success at the club and that could lead to some trophies under Klopp’s management.
