Liverpool’s third first-team signing of the season is finally done, with Xherdan Shaqiri joining the Reds from Stoke City. While a number of fans are happy with the signing, Steve Nicol, a former Red, has some words of caution regarding the 26-year-old Shaqiri.
Nicol was quoted by the Express as saying that the Swiss star has the ability but that he was more worried about his attitude.
“This is a guy who, to me, looks as though it’s all about him.
“You can look at this Liverpool team under Klopp and you see a chemistry. This guy is going to need to have a huge attitude change.
“He’s going to be coming off the bench. But if he’s doing that with a bad attitude then it negates the ability.”
Nicol certainly has gotten one thing right and that is the fact that Shaqiri might come off the bench rather than start games.
The 26-year-old does have some arrogance on the pitch and that can be a good or bad thing for the Reds. We do need players that have belief in their ability and that is something which Shaqiri does not lack.
However, he will have to be really consistent to stake a place in the team and Jurgen Klopp is known to take tough decisions if players are not doing their bit.

Shaqiri has the skill and the ability to become a hit for Liverpool but he has to do the bit on the field once the season starts.
